A pioneer in open access publishing at MDPI AG Basel, Matthias Burkhalter has launched, edited and managed a large number of journals such as Sensors, Energies, Viruses, Arts and many others over the past 20 years. Since 2015 he created and organized a number of international conferences and webinars mainly but not only on topics related to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Viruses and a series on “Fighting Fake Facts”. He joined the Women’s Brain Foundation in January 2020 to be involved in creating the first Sex and Gender Precision Medicine Institute.
He has been elected President of WBF on the General Assembly held in Zurich in December 2021.
