DDW Editor Reece Armstrong speaks to Dr Antonella Santuccione Chadha, CEO of the Women’s Brain Foundation (WBF) about the importance of sex and gender differences in drug discovery efforts.
The topic of gender disparity is a prevailing issue in modern society and is something which has caused fierce debate across political spectrums, the results of which can have real impact on the lives of those affected.
In drug discovery and development, biological differences can have serious implications on how therapies perform in a given population, and it has become a larger and more pressing topic of conversation within the industry in recent years.
Helping shed light on this issue is Dr Antonella Santuccione Chadha, CEO of the Women’s Brain Foundation (WBF), a Switzerland-based non-profit organisation that is aiming to “transform the development of drugs and medical treatments through sex and gender factors as a gateway to precision medicine and care,” she says.
