Founder and CEO of the Women’s Brain Foundation to be Honoured for Role in Shaping Swiss History
Press Release | Zurich, Switzerland | 15 August, 2024
The Women’s Brain Foundation is proud to announce that its Founder and CEO, Dr. Antonella Santuccione-Chadha, is one of 500 women to be recognised for her contribution to Swiss history in an artistic installation at the Katharina Tower. The tower, located in the heart of Zurich, commemorates Katharina von Zimmern, who played a significant role in the Protestant Reformation by transferring the Fraumünster Abbey to the city of Zürich in 1524, which supported the city’s transition to Protestantism.
Dr. Santuccione-Chadha, is globally known for her outstanding achievements to science and medicine, particularly her contributions that focus on women and their predispositions to brain and mental disorders.
The honour given to Dr. Santuccione-Chadha is remarkable because she is an Italian citizen who adopted Switzerland as her home some time ago.
The project tower, which stands 40 meters tall, aims to spark debates about the Reformation’s history and the city at that time, including the canton, and its architecture, and how all these elements interconnect.
The installation emphasises the productive and creative power of women and their social, economic, religious, and political impact. The tower will be outfitted with a “dress” measuring up of 1,000 metres comprised of green ribbons, on which are printed the names of the 500 honoured women, who have been chosen for their contributions, past and present to various fields.
This temporary installation will be on display from August 20 to December 10, 2024. The Katharina tower is located in the centre of Zurich between the town hall and the illustrious Fraumünster church, which was once a women’s monastery.
The inauguration ceremony for the Katharinen Turm is scheduled at the Fraumünster church in Zurich on August 20, 2024.
