Prescription for Change: Policy Recommendations for Women’s Health Research

Women are half the population yet health issues that affect them exclusively, differently or disproportionately remain under-researched and under-funded. For example, just 7% of healthcare research targets conditions that exclusively affect women.
We need more representative research to fuel better diagnosis and treatment. Closing this research gap is not only a moral imperative, it’s critical to unlocking smarter science, stronger economies and fairer futures.
To achieve this aim, the World Economic Forum’s Global Alliance for Women’s Health has published a new white paper presenting 5 actionable policy recommendations to help close the research gap negatively impacting the health of women everywhere.
The white paper has been produced in partnership with Kearney, Gates Foundation and a working group of more than 45 organizations including the Women’s Brain Foundation.
The Global Alliance for Women’s Health is calling on policy-makers and healthcare leaders to recognize that improving research around the health of women is essential to broader medical progress.
